Alvin and the Chipmunks
I got to see Alvin and the Chipmunks with my nephew and niece when I was home for Christmas down in Mississippi. I must say it wasn’t too bad it was cute and probably still a kiddie movie. The heroin of the story, Claire (played by Cameron Richardson) was extremely attractive. That’s besides the point since I was sitting next to my fiancee and I will never get a chance to meet her, I can still look right? So it was a good movie, I’m new at this writing movie reviews thing. My fiancee liked most Theodore because he was the fat one. It had a rocky beginning with the main character losing his job and then his girlfriend because of these talking chipmunks. It was really neat to see how he tried to set boundaries but was undermined by the story’s atagonist. Then to watch the little baby chipmunks be sad. The songs the chipmunks sang had some crazy good harmonies when it was just them singing. It was a good movie and I enjoyed it whatever that means to people.
Please leave a comment and let me know what you thought of the movie.

Daily Reports
The daily reports will officially stop effective today. I just am tired of doing it and I typically have other things to write about that doesn’t make this blog completely dumb and just taking up space. So there will be other things that will be written about but the daily reports have served their purpose. I have seen weight loss over the past several weeks not quite at the rate I want to but I can show people what I eat and how it affects my weight loss which was my goal. So without further ado you will start seeing reviews of books, movies, and games and also the occassional Ubuntu post as well. So I hope anyone who was interested got their fill. I will continue doing the weekly weigh ins as I push for my goal of 200 pounds by my wedding day.

Weekly Weigh-in
I am down 0.2 pound this week. Very sad very low weight loss. I need to eat better and continue making it to the gym. This is embarrassingly low weight loss, but it’s still weight loss. So I will keep on trucking along and blame this one on the large glass of water I had just before weighing in.

Weekly Weigh In
So I really thought I would be high this week or be on the plus side of weight loss because of the poor eating habits that I have maintained this past week. Alas I am down 1.2 pounds this week which isn’t quite at the 1.5 pounds that is my weekly goal but its still quite good. So anyway I don’t really have much more to say nor do I want to spend more time typing away on this computer. I hope everyone has a good week!

Virtualization
So when I got my new computer I was wanting to exclusively run Ubuntu on it, not for any other reason than I just heard enough bad things about Windows Vista I didn’t want to upgrade. I fell in love with Ubuntu, how it does things, some of the eye candy you can get through Compiz, and the simplicity of the operating system. Not to mention it’s free. Well I got everything I wanted running in linux that I might want to use a computer for. There are a few games I do not have running in linux that I used to run for various reasons but we won’t go there for now. The only problem I had was I could not find a finance software that I liked. I had been using MS Money and was used to it and there wasn’t much out there that I liked. The problem arose when wine does not do Money. So this led to me to start thinking in the direction of having a virtualized version of windows since I still had my old XP disk. Last night that is what I did. I virtualized Windows, installed Money and now I can easily boot into windows and go to town. Everything works in windows but I only gave it about 10GB of hard disk space so it will not be running too many applications. I’m not sure how well virtualization would work on an old computer but on the new one I have it runs without a problem. I used VirtualBox to do my tasks, after some research I found out that it was in the repos so it must be good I thought so I installed it and then it took me just a few minutes to set everything up and about 30 minutes for windows to install. I had to grab an ISO image from the Windows XP install disk in order to install but in the forums I found a cool command that made one for me. The command was
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=windows.iso
In case anyone ever may want to use it. So that was it it was the easiest experience of my life after I was somewhat dreading having to do it. Now I can boot up windows, do my finances and then just shut it back down without having to do a complete restart of my computer or anything like that. It is an extra step that I wish I didn’t have to take but I am happy with being able to use the programs that I like, so it’s all good. And that has been my experiences with virtualization so far. Below I have included some cool looking screen shots.
