Charlie Wilson’s War (A)

This past weekend I went to see Charlie Wilson’s War and was quite impressed, thus the reason this movie got an A.  I would definitely go see this movie a second time but might just wait for it to come out on DVD and go buy it or something.

So Charlie Wilson (Tom Hanks) is a congressman who represents the second congressional district of Texas, which apparently wants nothing from the world around them.  There is something in there he says but I can’t remember what it is.  For one reason or another he is quite interested more so than others it seems in Afghanistan and the war that is going on between them and the Soviet Russians.  Then he has his friend who lives in Houston, Joanne Herring (Julia Roberts, has a hot bikini scene) who is also interested in liberating the Afghanis.  And so there is how he gets all started with this and there are various other subplots that play out in the movie as well that I won’t get into.  The ending is very interesting and I don’t want to give it away, but I think the decisions made in that room have implications that we are seeing today with the war on terror. 

There is no sex in the movie but in the first few scenes that are some completely nude girls who have no problems showing their boobies and butt on the camera, along with Tom Hanks butt.  There is quite some language in the movie though, so if crude language bothers you then perhaps you should decide to go see another movie. There is also talk of drug use and people being stoned but there is no actualy drug use although there is quite a lot of alcohol drinking going on. 

Finally there were quite a few cute girls in the movie.  Amy Adams looked smokin’ in this movie.  Along with Julia Roberts in her bikini scene.  Charlie Wilson seemed the lady’s man with his “jailbait” cute lookers he had working in his office.  Finally a girl that was some guy’s daughter who was complaining about something that never seemed to be resolved in the movie anyway, Emily Blunt.  She was looking good in the scene after they were in his office walking around Tom Hank’s apartment in her underwear but nothing else exciting happened there except to see her.
