Weekly Weigh-in (254.4)

Well, I am at least losing a little weight although I feel like I am falling further and further behind where I want to be.  Since I started tracking my personal weight loss (outside of the 20 pound weight loss thing I was doing with coworkers), I have lost almost 11 pounds.  So it has taken me 8 weeks to lose 11 pounds, thats not too bad, I mean I have done better than just 1 pound per week I guess, but it’s nowhere close to where my goal of 2.2 pounds per week is.  So I have made some changes and will try and be stricter on my diet and see if I can reverse things.  Right now I am looking at around 225 pounds for my wedding, which is about 10 pounds over where I wanted to be.  That is when I will re-address my weight and fitness goals and might start trying to maintain or I might try and continue losing weight.  I have in my head what I want to look like when running around with a shirt off.  I think that 215 pounds will get me close to that goal, but at the same time, I’m not sure.  Looking at just my BMI charts, I think that 190 would be very ideal; it would get me to a BMI of 22 which in my head seems like a good idea.  I think the BMI is somewhat retarded whenever you get past a certain height, since a guy in my office is extremely skinny, same height as me, and has a BMI of 24.  Well so I have broken out into working out twice a day now to increase my metabolism early in the morning, burn some extra calories and then workout in the afternoon again.  Right now in the morning what I am doing is lifting weights 3 days a week.  I do a whole body workout and it is almost as much of a cardio workout as it is a traditional weight lifting workout.  I want to see where I’m at after this week and I might change it up a little.  The other two days of the week I do high intensity interval training (HIIT) which I do on the treadmill.  I read about it on the site, http://www.fitnessblackbook.com a great site that I would suggest anyone look at.  I’ve read almost every article/entry on it in the past 2 or 3 weeks.  The HIIT that I do works like this; it starts and ends with a 5 minute warmup/cooldown which is 5 minutes of walking (3.5 speed).  From there I alternate 1 minute of running and 1 minute of walking.  I start running at 7.0 and every running interval I do I increase the speed by 0.5, it is definitely intense.  In the afternoon I am continuing to do what I was, Monday I run 1.5 mile to check my time, Tuesday and Thursday I have PT, and follow it up with a spin class.  Wednesday I do a 45 minute long run to where my goal is more than 6 miles in 45 minutes; this would place me at a 7:30 minute mile steady for the entire time.  Friday afternoon I want to start swimming before going home for the day (I might wait until it warms up just a little bit more).  Then I want to start coming into the gym on Saturday and Sunday early.  Currently after I do my morning routine, I workout on an empty stomach, I eat a 0 carb breakfast (3 egg whites).  This allows me to not really have any carbs until lunch time with my sandwich so ideally I am still burning fat this entire time instead of just burning carbs.  This is probably the hardest part of the day, I am so hungry and today for instance I had maybe 10 pretzel sticks which immediately curbed my appetite until it was time to eat my sandwich.  The only other problem I have had is just making sure I stick to my diet without faltering; I think once I get that discipline back then I will definitely start to see 2 or 3 pounds a week just flying off without any problem.  I am currently 7 pounds over where my goal was for this week, so I have a lot of catching up to do, but I don’t think it’s possible.  We will see.  Wish me luck, and good luck in your own weight loss goals.

Weekly Weigh-in (257.6)

Change from last week: -3 pounds
Difference from goal: +1.8 pounds

So I say some good weight loss this week, 3 pounds, that is awesome.  I hope that I can keep this up for longer than just 2 weeks this time around.  I am not sure if I posted my weekly weigh-in from last week, unfortunately for whatever reason I was up about 1.5 pounds which is why after losing 3 pounds this week I am over my goal by 1.8 pounds.  That is okay though if I can maintain this weight loss for 3 more weeks I will be back on target which shouldn’t be tough, right?  Okay so I will give myself an extra week in there of four weeks to get back on target.  It is a little disenheartening to have a bad week early on but I won’t let it get me down, I will try and identify what I did incorrectly and do better this week to ensure that I don’t make that same mistake again.  Right now what sucks is that my sink in the kitchen is backed up and I haven’t had a chance to fix it and at the rate I am going today probably won’t be fixing it today either.  I am very tired.  So once I get my sink fixed I need to do dishes so I can take the time and start to cook dinner again.  If I don’t get it fixed quick this week is going to be very bad or I am going to need to get in and do a LOT of working out.  If I don’t have a solid 3 pound weight loss this week what I have started thinking about doing is doing pushups and situps every other hour while at work this gets me out of the sitting here typing on the keyboard thing that I normally do at work, raises my heart rate up and hopefully will get my metabolism kicked into high gear for the entire day.  ANyway, here is to another solid week and a weigh in of 154.6 next week!  Wish me luck.

Weekly Weigh-in (258.6)

I’m down another 2.8 pounds from last week which puts me an a running total of 1.6 pounds under where I want to be.  this is awesome I am seeing some great weight loss i just hope it continues.  I apolgize for this being mid-week.  The gym was closed Monday and I didn’t have time to do this last night when I got in from the gym for getting in so late.  So I’m doing well and this is going to be brief.  One thing I do want to hit on is ensuring people drink enough water.  I had it mentioned to me last night that maybe I suffer from chronic dehydration which is the reason I don’t sweat much during spin class.  I looked it up today and found out I figure with my working out included I should be drinking about 4 liters of water per day which is about a gallon.  I found a website (http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C5223.html) that said to take your weight in kilograms or your weight in pounds divided by 2 and that is the amount in ounces of water you should drink daily.  It came out to about 3.5 liters a day.  Then I did some research on how much water to drink to replace exercise sweat and it said 20 – 28 ounces of water so for 1 hour of working out that’s about another 1/2 liter or so which puts me right at 4 liters.  I also found that you should drink an extra 2 cups of water for every 5 degrees above 85 Farenheit.  So here’s to getting up to a solid gallon of water a day!  Wish me luck.  Hopefully I will start sweating more because I know I’m not drinking that much water each day, more like 1/2 gallon or sometimes 3 liters.

Weekly Weigh-in (261.4)

Wow, so I’m back on my weight watchers diet program and have seen an amazing 3 pound weight loss since last week.  That is also without having eaten quite as good as I would’ve liked to.  I’m very happy about this.  I have also put together a spreadsheet and I am a pound under what my goal weight was for this week.  This is actually right where I want to be because I fear as I get closer to my target weight that my weight loss per week will slow down because I won’t have so much extra weight on my body.  This is very exciting though that my diet and exercising is working for me.  This hopefully will surprise a lot of my biggest loser guys that I am working with as well.  I’m not sure if this will bump me up high enough in the standings to take a solid 2nd place but I am in 4th (of 5) place last week so maybe this will bump me up to 3rd place and if I can keep this up for another week that should land me in 2nd place.  I doubt I will make it to first place simply because that guy is very far in the lead doing the Atkin’s Diet which doesn’t seem to work for me at all.  I did talk to him about it the other week and he mentioned that it doesn’t work well for certain blood types, and since I am B+ apparently it doesn’t work too well for me.  In case anyone is curious of my diet currently I am eating 2 – 3 hardboiled eggs with a glass of water in the morning.  I would like to change this to OJ or something a little more exciting, but I think it bumps my points too high too early in the day.  This typically keeps me good a full until lunch time where I will eat a sandwich.  This week I am eating PB&J just because I want to get into the habit again of eating brown bag instead of going out to eat and this is what I had in the pantry already.  Next week I hope to get back to turkey.  Most days I need a snack so I have eaten a cheese stick the past few days, I want to buy some fruit next week and eat a piece of fruit, an apple or something for my afternoon snack before going to the gym.  Then at dinner I’ve been eating a grilled chicken breast with roasted veggies.  If I eat just 1 cup of veggies this leaves me very hungry by the next morning, but my body will adjust to it I hope and I will see some solid weight loss.  Wish me luck as I continue my weight loss, my eventual goal is 214 by June 21, my wedding date.

Weekly Weigh-in (264.6)

There it is in bold extra large text above this entry.  My current weight.  Now I am trying to lose weight for many reasons, one of which is I’m in the military, being fat is not condusive to being in the military.  I want to feel better about myself, I look gross and fat right now.  Another reason is I want to have a model body type for my wedding and following honeymoon.  My goal for the wedding week?  215.0 pounds.  I just did the math I need to achieve just over 2 pounds per week.  I think this is incredibly doable.  I just wrote out the amount I should weight for each Monday weigh-in and I’m glad I did becaus seeing some of these numbers for the March timeframe if I saw them at that time then I could see where I would get a little distressed but now that I have it written down I can see how and where it would work.  I’m going to make an excel spreadsheet to track what my goal weight is for each week and where I actually am at and what the difference is in the two.  I would actually like to see about a 3 pound weight loss each week for the first month or two because I know as I get leaner the weight will be more difficult to come off and so if I can be ahead of schedule as I start to plateau and find new ways to lose weight closer to the end date then I might be at a 1 pound a week weight loss but since I am ahead of schedule I will still maintain my 2.1 average weight loss over the entire time frame.  So wish me luck!

Daily Reports

The daily reports will officially stop effective today.  I just am tired of doing it and I typically have other things to write about that doesn’t make this blog completely dumb and just taking up space.  So there will be other things that will be written about but the daily reports have served their purpose.  I have seen weight loss over the past several weeks not quite at the rate I want to but I can show people what I eat and how it affects my weight loss which was my goal.  So without further ado you will start seeing reviews of books, movies, and games and also the occassional Ubuntu post as well.  So I hope anyone who was interested got their fill.  I will continue doing the weekly weigh ins as I push for my goal of 200 pounds by my wedding day.

Weekly Weigh-in

I am down 0.2 pound this week.  Very sad very low weight loss.  I need to eat better and continue making it to the gym.  This is embarrassingly low weight loss, but it’s still weight loss.  So I will keep on trucking along and blame this one on the large glass of water I had just before weighing in.
